I finished my Halloween Quilt.  It's a small square throw type quilt.  It will go on the glider on my front porch for Halloween.  When I took the picture, it occurred to me that it would make a really cute table cloth topper too!

I completed my second Halloween 2016 project this past weekend.  It started with finding a lantern with a "Witch in a Forest" motif.  My imagination took hold and I could envision just how I wanted the finished product to be.

This is a "Witch and Dragon Lair" deep in the forest.

The construction was actually pretty simple.  The lantern came with a battery powered light in the center of the bottom.  I took it out and put in a wooden floor that I covered with moss.  For the sides and back, I used vellum paper and then covered the whole interior with black tulle.  In the ceiling, there are tiny twinkling lights and under the cauldron, another very tiny red light to give the illusion of fire.

The potions cabinet is made from wood scraps, cardboard and lots of paint and glue!  The witch and dragons are all purchased, although I did paint the witches clothes to give her a more "spooky" look!

I'll be hanging this one on my front porch to greet the Trick or Treaters who come on Halloween night!

The "Forever Gingerbread House"

Today I stopped by the craft store to pick up a paint pen and was inspired by a children's craft kit of a gingerbread house to begin working again on my "Forever Gingerbread House".  This house is a 1:12 scale miniature that began life as an Orchid Kit from Greenleaf.  I added trees, snowmen and a few more treats to the architecture on the exterior.  No changes in the bathroom this year but lots of details added in all the other rooms!  As I was putting it away tonight, I realized it really needs lots of Red Birds in the trees!

Autumn in Miniature

Autumn is my favorite time of year.  Every time I take a walk, I find treasures to turn into useful objects in my Fairy Houses and in the more elaborate doll houses and miniatures.  For example: take apart a pine cone and there you have shingles for the roof!  Acorn caps come in a variety of sizes and make great baskets and bowls.  Beautiful, flat pebbles from a stream become stepping stones in the garden.  My "share" today is a sample of a few of my Autumn miniature projects.
